Hi parents

My DD is exactly 20mo today. She is lively and energetic. Walking around all day playing and singing.

She can be "clingy" and "whingey" - always much better outside of the house.

If she wants something- she repeats it until you come up with it. Not patient but very slowly understanding if something is "coming" or if the food is too hot etc.

Language seems as expected - she can communicate she wants to eat, to have water, go outside etc. mainly 1-2 words at a time with a few 3-4 word phrases

My husband thinks she isn't patient enough and is "very up and down"

Am I being blind as her mother because I just think she's still young?

Any advice or stories? I've done quite well at not worrying so far but this has me concerned. I think she's fine but I don't want to be biased. What do we expect from 20m old?

Thank you so much in advance

My DS is 21 months and is the same. They definitely don’t understand patience or too much reasoning at this stage. I’ve started involving him in processes so he can see why he has to wait- ie. I’ll peel an apple and chop it in front of him (he watches from his kitchen helper). They just want what they want right now though- don’t think thats going to end anytime soon either. Wouldn’t be concerned!

Thanks so much! Up to now I haven't worried much about much but now she is becoming a little person I was worried I should be doing something different. Good point re explaining - it helps! I try to sign post what will happen too - one more story then sleeping bag and bed. Good luck!
