Newborn not settling in the cot

Hello,
I have a 3 day old baby- he slept in the hospital and he slept ok yesterday first night at home .

Today during the day he was also happy doing his cycle of pooping/feeding/sleeping. However tonight he just doesn't want to sleep in his cot. We tried swaddling, tried his sleeping bag- he seems to hate it now. Only wants to settle in my arms.

What is happening? 😩

That’s really normal. He might just need more cuddles / skin on skin reassurance as he wakes up to the world. My daughter basically lived in my arms for 6 months, she had all naps on me as just never settled in her cot.

As PP said, totally normal. I wish I could give advice but you just have to lean into it as best you can. Both of mine slept with me (safely co-slept) and in my arms for naps until around 5 months.
Have a read about 4th trimester; baby is so so new. The world is bright, loud and scary. They want to be close to you as you’re their comfort and safe place x

Thank you both! We are getting there - although great during the day, he seems to be a bit more restless in the first half of the night and then settles for the other half until 7am. We are learning something new each day☺️🥰
