Speech Therapy for 2 year old

Hi !

Does anyone have any recommendations for speech therapist in South East London for a 24 month old who potentially has autism? Any suggestions would be so helpful, worried as he says very few words. Partner has undiagnosed ADHD and i probably have something as well so really not sure what to expect...have been told by most boys are slower than girls but not sure what to think. Hope you are all well. xx

No recommendations sorry but I would recommend asking your HV for a hearing test as the SLT will want them to have had a hearing test to rule out glue ear.

Are you already on the waitlist for NHS speech therapy? If not then you can self-refer, you don't need to wait for a referral from HV or doctors. Just give them a call and get yourself added to the waitlist.

Also I think it's a total myth that boys are slower than girls. My DS was quicker to walk, talk and potty train than my DD. Although agree that's a pretty small sample

I am not aware of any therapist but I found a blog that might be helpful for you, guidance for milestone development of a child you can self-examine your child after reading this or try another blog available there on the same topics. They also give consultation world wide. I hope it will help you.

Yes! We saw an amazing speech therapist in Deptford (we’ve moved up north now but still having odd appointments with her via Zoom). Just doing bedtime, will post her details in a bit.

Apologies! Her name is Keena Cummins and she’s a SALT based in Deptford, but as I said she also does virtual appointments. It’s probably better in person but still works really well on Zoom. Her company is called Verve child Interaction and her email is [email protected]
