Hi Everyone.
Just wondering how everyone got on with weaning? My LO is now 7 months and really isnt fussed about food. Some days hell have some, some days he wont. Ive tried finger foods and purees and pouches and different times of the day.
Any help would be appreciated.

Firstly, there's a very useful Weaning Section under "Feed the World" where you can find other MNers going through this. It might be worth a look? Wink

Is he eating anything at all? Sometimes they look like they're not eating much but the nappies show you that they are!

Also, babies are great at self regulation so some days can naturally eat a lot more than other days.

Honestly I've cried over SO many meal times! My DS would simply refuse ALL foods. Wouldn't touch and would have a complete meltdown! Tried before bottle, after bottle, during bottle, different times of the day, hot food, cold food, puree, BLW... NOTHING.

Fast forward to 10.5 months, over night he started to eat!! I can't say what made it happen but he's eaten so many different meals now.

He's eaten:

Sweet and sour chicken
Chicken curry
Spag bol
Beef hotpot
Chicken paella
Cottage pie
Lamb and veg
Yogurt
Drinks the fruit purées now

Maybe now reading back that list he has a liking for strong foods! It was a can of spag bol (just heinz) that made him get a taste for the food!

Hope that gives you a bit of hope, they definitely do it when they're ready and PLEASE don't stress.. I don't know any baby over the age of 1 or 2 that still has bottles only. Once milk slows down (I was told to cut to 3 feeds at 9m and maybe over time he realised food is nice for his tummy?!) Your LO will start to enjoy it.

Sorry if that's all waffle, I just know how you're feeling and it's so hard when you see other babies having 3 course meals 😩🤪

My DS is 10.5 month's and also only just started really eating. We started weaning at 5.5 months. Before I feel it was more play for him and he wasn't very interested in anything but bread sticks ( and even those I think he liked more because he was teething than as actual food). Give it time I wouldn't get overly concerned until they reach 12 months.
