I was wondering if any parents here with an autistic, ADHD child use smelling aroma to help their child come out if Meltdowns?? If so where did you get them?? My boy has really bad meltdown and is waiting to be assessed. I read that aromas can help calm a child down.

I've not come across a sort of "smelling salts" / "fix it at that moment" thing if that is what you are looking for.

I am aware that some people with autism are sensitive to some smells, and some find particular smells calming in much the same way some people without autism find certain smells calming - various scented candles and some types of bubble bath for example. By the same token, some people find some smells really overwhelming, through being hypersensitive so it is 'calming' to make sure these scents aren't lingering where the hypersensitive person is. Those smalls can be really particular to the person thoguh.

Great post from Kite. I'd also post in the SN section, there are some lovely experienced MNers in there FlowersSmile
