Is this normal? high needs / separation anxiety

Hi,

I'd appreciate some advice / hear from similar experiences

My DD is 12 months old. She goes to childminder two days a week. She originally settled well, but last few weeks has majorly regressed. Seems to have happened at same time she got ill and was at childminder not feeling well. Since then she hasn't just cried at handover but most of the day as well :( The childminder is willing to keep trying for a few more weeks but (understandably) has said that if no improvement she can't keep her on and tbf it wouldn't be remotely fair on my daughter either.

DD does appear to have quite bad separation anxiety at the moment (was not like this prior to mid September). For example, if me or partner leaves the room she gets upset. We are trying to gently increase this kind of safe separation so she gets used to it. We don't have any family support so don't have anyone else we can leave her with (and this may be part of the problem because she has never not been looked after by me or DH).

Prior to this all, she was a really chilled baby. Very smiley, happy and eager to explore, rarely cried and was easily settled. It feels like something has changed in the last 3-4 weeks and she is just suddenly very VERY emotional and is easily triggered into being very upset.

I'm naturally pretty anxious, and this is all making me feel very worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it pass or is this the new normal? and does anyone have any suggestions? She isn't walking yet, but always wants to walk while we hold her hands so I do wonder whether there is some frustration around this,

Any help (or advice or reassurance) very gratefully received.
