When did your baby walk?

Hello lovely mumsnetters! I've got myself in a bit of a panic and so I'm seeking other Mum's experiences with their little ones. My beautiful DD, 16 months old today, is still not walking. In fact, she doesn't seem to have any inclination to whatsoever!! She's been pulling herself up and cruising furniture for months now - actually started doing this very early - but it hasn't really progressed from there. She won't even pull herself up to stand on her own, not without the support of furniture or hands to hold. She's very reluctant to walk holding our hands, and will only do it if she has a tight hold on both - never one handed.

She was a very early crawler so I think we perhaps naively thought she'd be walking fairly early too! I hadn't let it worry me until recently when family and friends started commenting on it. She's now the eldest of all the babies in our friendship group but the only one not walking. We've consequently had lots of, well meaning but unhelpful, comments such as "is she still not walking yet!?", "I'd be getting a bit worried now" and "my DC was walking very confidently by your DDs age". These have got into my head now and I'm convinced something is wrong!!

For context, she's a dinky dot. She was a teeny 5lbs 3ozs at birth, not premature but a couple of weeks early after a growth scan revealed she'd stopped growing. She has CMPA and egg allergies which we're on top of, but she's always had a very sensitive tummy. She is an absolute joy - happy, smiley and very sociable! Her speech and fine motor skills all seem fine and in line with what is deemed 'normal' (hate that word!) for her age.

My DH says we need to ignore the comments and let our DD walk when she's ready, and up until recently I agreed, I'm just finding it hard to not let the comments get to me now!

So at the end of this very long post (apologies) I'm asking - when did your babies walk? Is my DD a worry? Thank you all from a worrier of a first time mum!! Xx

My daughter was very similar, she just used to shuffle around on her bum and showed no desire to stand up let alone walk! I think she was around 18 months when she finally decided to walk. They will do it in thier own time.

She is now 5 and in her first sports day in reception year she won the running race by quite a distance :)

@Ian0808 thank you! That's great to hear - and well done to your daughter for smashing her long distance!! Trying to just ignore the comments now - I know they're said with kindness but it makes me worry even more!

10 months… and pretty much running soon after… but she was always very big and robust for her age. The majority of babies at her groups were well over one year… and plenty were around 18 months so I wouldn’t worry at all. It all got so much harder when she could run off so I’d cherish these immobile days while they last!

@discofizz wow, 10 months! Amazing! Haha I know, I keep being told to enjoy it whilst she's crawling still! I'm sure I'll feel differently once she is walking!!
