Extremely fussy baby

Son is 6 months old hasn't rolled over and sitting unassisted for a few minutes.he has been an extremely fussy baby since birth. Until 2 months he was extremely colic and would cry a lot at night. After that from his 4th month he is constantly been in FUSSY Mode.He never plays by himself for more than a few minutes. I'm just so sick of the constant crying, i think am loosing it. I feel like am a horrible mother and like am being punished by this tiny human being.
He wants to be carried all the time or he has to outside. I need to look after my 5yr old too and she is feeling extremely left out and is crying to get my love and affection. My daughter was such a lovable baby and i was fooled that 2nd would be the same.
Anyone with such babies out der? Will it get any better or even will be worse?

Just wanted to post to say you’re not alone. My son was so fussy and miserable for months and then when he hit 6 months he was briefly like a new baby.

However, he’s been back to his old fussy self the past couple of weeks again (he’s seven months now) and I am honestly devastated. The absolute joy I felt in those couple of weeks where he actually seemed happy and I enjoyed spending time with him.

Now I just wake up with a pit of absolute dread in my stomach each day, so anxious for what the day will bring, and just feel so sad. I can’t bear spending time at classes around other peoples babies because it’s always my baby who is screaming and I feel so utterly ashamed, doing everything I can unsuccessfully to calm him while the other babies sit quietly and happily or can actually be quickly consoled by their mothers.

I really hope things improve for you soon.

Yes i truly pray that things get better. How about his milestones? Is he rolling , sitting and crawling?

Are there any signs it might be physical pain causing the crying, silent reflux or CMPA perhaps?

Does putting him in a sling or carrier help at all, if he wants to be held? He's probably getting big enough for a back carry or a hip carry, and then you can get on with quite bit whilst still holding him.

My LO was like this for 10 mths, now he is older (4) we believe he was in pain with heart burn. It's awful looking back and thinking he was possibly hurting. Hope you make it through the next few months and that it gets easier for you. My LO is lovely and is a happy boy most of the time.
