I'm mum fo an 8 year old boy. He behaves excellently at school and I generally have no issues with him in terms of he does his homework, he attends clubs, he has friends, gets ready for school on time etc. No SEN. But more and more he's being rude to me but I'm not sure if he really knows or understands. He calls me an "idiot" and sometimes says he hates me. Regularly tells me who he loves more than me. Equally he can and generally is very cuddly, likes being tucked in to bed at night, still calls me mummy etc. There are no real issues I can think of. I'm just not sure how to react when he is rude to me. I tell him it's hurtful and it's wrong but it's not sinking in and he continues to do it. I want to bring up a nice child. He's no reason to be angry at me or the world but sometimes seems to be. How should I be dealing with this and is it a normal stage of growing up?
