DS turned 6 months old this week and hasn't even tried to roll over. He can sit unassisted for a few minutes. I'm so worried sick that he isn't even trying to roll over . My 1st born was very active and hit all her milestones before time. I kinda of never knew milestones existed until i had my son. I'm starting to get very worried that he maybe delayed

Rolling seems to be a very variable milestone – some babies do a lot of it, and some babies just aren't very interested. My elder daughter was cruising round the furniture before she bothered rolling back to tummy. She's 3 now, every bit as crazy and active as most three year olds, no concerns at all.

Your son is sitting up, so that's good. Can he push his chest off the floor during tummy time? Does he grab at his feet when he's on his back? If he's doing other gross motor skills, I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of rolling, but you can always get in touch with your health visitor – they can come out and do some checks if they are concerned.

Hi thank you for responding. Yes he does push ups and he is holding his feet in his hands

Mine didnt roll onto her tummy until she was 8 months. She just never bothered. She basically just sat on her little bottom from 6-10 months when she finally started crawling. They do things when they are ready and rolling isnt a proper milestone so dont worry 😊

My first rolled once and didn't do it again for months and didn't crawl until he was around 11 months but was crushing the furniture.

As long as he can bear weight on his legs if you hold him and is meeting his other milestones, I wouldn't worry too much but you can always ask your HV to check him over.

This progress checker for speech and language might be helpful too Flowers

Hi There, can I ask how your baby is getting on now? My little boy is also not rolling yet he’s just not interested but he will grab his feet and lift himself up on tummy time and also if he’s sitting on me he will pull himself up to sit

TIA x

@Kimbi1389 Hey, just wondered when did your son started to roll? Mines just turned 6 months and doing as you said x

He rolled over in the 7th month. Barring the rolling over milestone all his other milestones have been on time. I had such an anxious time during all those 7 months wondering if something was wrong. So my advise is they will do it when they are ready.
