Clingy 7 month old - any advice?

My DD - 7 months - has started to cry as soon as I leave the room. Tried to leave her at a creche at the gym earlier in the week and she cried so much the staff had to get me. She is used to being out and seeing other mums and babies, but not used to being left with anyone. I realise clinginess is common at this age but am hoping for some practical advice...

Try starting leaving her in a room on her own at home at first and watch from afar and see how she responds and keep doing this every so often so she gets used to you being around but not actually being in the same room as her - perhaps sing from another room so she can hear you but not see you and go from there.

Also leave something that she knows belongs to you (that is safe for her to have of course) - such as scarf - this will have your "scent" on it and may help reassure her.
