4 year old has started stuttering

My 4 year old seems to have developed a stutter pretty much overnight. She has always been super clever, saying words and phrases way above her age expectancy. She’s occasionally stuttered before when she gets excited but nothing major. Now the last couple of weeks it’s very significant and it’s started to upset her. I was going to wait until she starts school in a couple of weeks and see if she’s any different in that environment, or should I be speaking to someone now before it potentially gets worse?
I have split with her dad in the last year and she has started asking me about it a bit more recently, could this possibly be why she’s started stuttering? As like an anxiety thing?
TIA x

Please don't wait for her to start school before you get help for her.

Some areas you can self refer for SLT and a hearing test, others you go through the HV. I'd call them today.

Hi, my son also suddenly started stuttering about 3 weeks ago. He is 4 and 8 months. Breaks my heart watching him struggle on words that was so easy to say before now! I’m currently looking for private speech therapist. He started school in September. Is your daughter still stuttering? Anyone else experienced this for over 4 year olds? Thanks. Nicola x
