I couldn't say for certain, but my 6 month old does this occasionally, and I think it's quite normal. Friends have a 8 month old boy and say he's always getting hold of his private bits and twisting them! So it could be worse. I guess they're just learning?...

I think it is normal because DD 16m does it when BFing especially at night when going to bed.

I keep meaning to check with the HV but I have not been to Clinic for almost a year! (ever since a nasty weaning row).

She is quite a good talker and gets frustrated when I can't understand her to the extent she will hit either me or herself. I have put it down to frustration, and at night to the fight between milk and sleep.

My Mum and Sister both think it is normal as we both did it and my Sisters LOs did it too. We are quite normal adults and my Nephews are fairly well balanced "normal" Children.

HTH I will check back in in case anyone else has any other ideas.
