Anxiety about needing the toilet

My 7 yo DS has developed an irrational fear about needing the toilet for a wee. He is absolutely fine when at home and behaves normally but when we are out he believes he needs the toilet so we must find one or do a wild wee. He can do this up to every 20 minutes. He has a sense of panic and keeps repeating that he needs to go. Can anyone help? How can I reassure him that he will be ok if he doesn't go so often?

Hi there
I don’t have any experience with this type of anxiety but my daughter is a fairly anxious child about new places and people. I got her a worry book and we talk a lot about them and it’s got fun activities etc. it really helped her. It may help him. Speak to him about it, we all worry about things.

Hi.
We’re just going through this with my DS6.
I came across this post and wondered if things improved / if you found any techniques that helped?
thanks

My DD went through a phase like this, she is also 6. I went with it and let her go every time she wanted. It calmed down after a month or so and she's fine now. I just let her have control and then she didn't seem to need it.
