4 year olds and growth spurts

DD1 is just 4.1. For the last few weeks she has been constantly asking for food... and she is genuinely hungry, as she's scoffing everything put in front of her She's always had a good appetite, but this is something else entirely!

She's also been quite tired over the last couple of weeks, going to bed a bit earlier than usual and sleeping a bit later. Is still enjoying all her usual routines, though (nursery, seeing friends etc)

Anyway, I decided to measure her and she's grown an inch in one month! (last measured on her birthday)

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I was starting to think maybe she was sickening for something but was a bit perplexed by the increased appetite thing!

No ravenous 4yr olds anywhere, then?!

I'm hoping my 4 year old is about to do this. He's been asking for loads of food lately and eating everything I give him which is unusual. He's shorter than almost all his friends so I've got my fingers crossed that he's having a growth spurt. I have noticed some of his friends shoot up within the space of a week or so.

DS (4 next month) is, I think, mid-growth spurt (need to measure him) - he suddenly needs an additional meal per day...

Hello!

DD is quite tall already (and a skinny-minnie). As I said, she's always been a hungry girl and eats really well, but this is mental! Asking for food CONSTANTLY.

I was really suprised by the 1 inch in 1 month...it seemed a lot to me!

Good to know that growth spurts at this age seem quite typical, though

Thanks for replying

My 4.1 year old has always eaten and grown like this. He eats and eats and eats and gets quite chubby compared with his usual lean, muscular frame (he's constantly on the move) and then suddenly he's all lanky and bony and can reach a new lightswitch and his trousers are capri pants. He's chunked up and stretched out to the tune of about 5lb and 4" since last summer.

Has it made your DCs more tired?
