20 month old hitting newborn

We have just welcomed our seccond child to our family, a week and a half ago.

My first is 20 months old, he dosent have many words or much understanding. Hates the word no and hates the new baby. Since the baby is here his behaviour has been terrible, biting, hitting and throwing toys.

Every time I pick the baby up he will scream wanting attention. Today is my first day alone and the baby seemed to want to cluster feed this morning, every time I breastfed the baby he would be pulling his leg or arm or slapping his head and screaming at me. Then I had him distracted on facetime with his dad whilst I breastfed and very suddenly with no warning he flipped and threw the phone at the baby's face.

I feel like a failure like I can't keep my baby safe from my toddler and I'm not coping with 2 under 2. Honestly if anyone was walking past whilst the phone incident went on they probably thought a murder was happening with all the screaming from both of them and me having to shout over the top of them.

I've tried giving him things to do whilst I breastfed but he dosent get interested for long enough for a whole feed and will start throwing things and screaming. He dosent stay in his highchair, it would be a danger if I put him in a highchair while feeding as he can get out the and will stand up and climb on the tray.

He will happily play whilst I do house work not a problem but as soon as its baby getting attention all hell breaks loose.
