For comparison, ds2 was 4lb 15 at birth, at 7 months he was 14lb 13.

Nemoandthefishes · 15/01/2008 21:03

must be chloes who are small..lol
DD2 is 12mths and weighs around 17lbs..was always told she was small but meeting all other targets. She wears 6-9mth clothes and most of them are still quite big on her. Cant remember what she was at 7mths.

Nemoandthefishes · 15/01/2008 21:05

meant to add is there a problem with her feeding? DD1 and dd2 both had silent reflux so needed hlep with that but otherwise ate well and drank enough milk but just didnt put weight on..

accoprding to my red book, it's very small, yes

but this is something ytou should discuss with the medics tbh

comparing with mnetters' babies will only freak you out - i won't tell you how much 6mo ds2 weighs

trace2 · 15/01/2008 21:06

My dd is also on the petite side of normal 12lb 8 at nearly 6 months like yours she also has other health issues. However the Paeds and the dietician input has been immensly helpful, and it's better that if there are problems thay are picked up at this stage and she can be closely monitored and "fed up".

In the future dd2 is likely to need high calries ( mars bar type) snacks when other children are having apples so there's always a positive spin

Nemoandthefishes · 15/01/2008 21:19

aww trace she is being looked after and even if she does need high calorie drinks its not the end of the world. At least while she is being tested on[which I know is horrible as dd1 has been through a few] it means an answer will be found and best way to care for her.

dorisofdevon · 15/01/2008 21:22

Sorry for the lighthearted post I cross posted with your last, It's horrible when they're admitted and I can totally understand how you're feeling {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}} try not to get too down at the end of the day if they can get to the bottom of the problem they can start to formulate a solution...... it's just bl###dy awful waiting !

JodieG1 · 15/01/2008 21:22

Dd was 13lb 4 at 22 weeks but was 4 weeks prem and took a while to put on weight. She didn't have any other problems after that though. She was 5lb 14 and a half at birth. She put on weight very slowly.

lisad123 · 15/01/2008 21:23

My DD2 was 5lb 3oz at birth. She nows weighs 13lb at 4 months. She is only on BM nothing else. Not sure if thats helpful.

It does sound small for a child her age, but whats her height? is she small all over?

fatzak · 15/01/2008 21:23

hugs trace. How is it going in hospital? Are they doing the videoing and the EEGs? Sorry to hear that she is not gaining weight - let's just hope that they can get to the bottom of what is causing her seizures.

fatzak · 15/01/2008 21:24

No no no didn't meant to link to a hug there Trace
I bet you wondered what strange pic it would link to

grannyslippers · 15/01/2008 21:33

My DS is very skinny, and I did worry because he was on the bottom line of the weight chart (was 14 lb at 7mths from the red book). But he's in fine health now, just a naturally thin little person.

Hope your DD catches up, I'm sure she just needs to concentrate on getting well atm. sorry to hear you are having such a worrying time.

verylittlecarrot · 15/01/2008 21:40

trace2

my dd is almost 6 months old. She is 9lb 7oz.

I'd give my right arm for her to weigh over 12 lb! But, as far as we know, she is tiny, but not unhealthy.

So to answer your question, there are healthy children much smaller than yours!

Best wishes for your dd'd speedy recovery.

berolina · 15/01/2008 21:55

ds1, 6lb 2 born, was 13lb 11 or thereabouts at 6 months. So yes, bigger than your dd, but a fairly similar weight gain from birthweight. He is fine and healthy.

NappyValley · 15/01/2008 22:03

trace sounds like you are really going through a tough time. hang in there.

trace2 · 16/01/2008 08:00

thank you with your imput, i went to bed wi ds for a cuddle, not slept much but who does when worring?

glad to know there is other healthy baby smaller or simlair same age as chloe.

its the pead at the childrens what did this and spocked me, i think i just cracked after every thing else going on, i know my self shes ok wi her weight, but i think when shes ill shes not got a lot to lose so i think thats what maybe they thinking!.

fatzak yes shes having thoses tests, but guess what no sezures while on, she had one in morning befor we got there and had a posture at hospital but didnt have probes on and they have to come off this morning, so god knows where we go from here?

Bloody typical Trace!! I am certain that that will be the case when we go for ours with DS!
