5 week old won't settle on his own

Hi, my 5 week old baby refuses to be put down. He screams every time we try. He is only happy when he's in a sling, his car seat or being cuddled. I know this is normal and I love cuddling him, but I have a 2 year old who demands a lot of attention and I can't give it to her when I'm constantly with the newborn. Anyone got any tips, or positive stories that it will get better 🙂 thanks!!

I think my top tip might be that sometimes you just have to put one of your children above the other for a few moments.

My style was to give my child the reassurance/attention/hold they asked for, and as a result the holes grew shorter and the reassurance grew less because they were secure. It's counter intuitive when you just want a moment's peace, I know.

Lots of gadgets that might help grab you 10 minutes of free hands. Swings, bouncer chairs and so on. Lots cheap, second hand.

It will get better. Be consistent with your two year old, do what you say you will, and this will pass x

Thank you, good tips and gives me some reassurance! Do you know when bouncy chairs are recommended from? I have one but didn't want to use it until he can properly hold his head up!
