Three year old sleeping terribly, at wits end

Hi all. I posted about this before and got no response but I'm trying again 😂

My daughter was 3 in March and had been sleeping through pretty reliably since she was around 18 months. However, for the past couple of months her sleep has deteriorated to the point where some nights she's worse than a newborn! If we're lucky she'll only wake once, but most nights it's at least 3 times. Last night was every bloody hour. She will either stand at her door and call for mummy or daddy or just cry hysterically.

Thankfully when she does wake she goes back to sleep very quickly, but the almost constant wake ups are so draining. We try to keep it very boring and will try not to interact with her too much when we go in, just go in and tell her it's bedtime and she'll climb straight into bed and fall asleep. So why is she waking so often??

The only big changes I can think of recently are that she started nursery in April. She enjoys it and apparently is very happy and well behaved there, but we've noticed she is more clingy when she's at home. Maybe separation anxiety? She's perfectly happy at home despite the unsettled sleep, just wants cuddles all the time.

I'm also currently 36 weeks pregnant. I don't know if she's fully grasped that she's getting a baby sibling yet but maybe she senses a big change is coming and it's unsettled her?

Along with the usual pregnancy exhaustion, the constant wake ups are making me very tired and I've started to absolutely dread bedtime. She goes to bed fine but I know it won't be long before she's up.

Did anyone else experience this? Is there a sleep regression at 3? Thank you 😊

Have you discounted threadworms?
our 3yo DD just had a terrible 6-8 weeks of bad sleep then we found some of the blighters. Explains the nighttime pains. 48 hours after taking ovex she slept through and til 7am for first time in weeks and weeks!

Might also be the pregnancy. We just had a second and the third trimester made her more restless. Have you read her any books on having a new sibling? The Sears one is lovely. Says about how a new baby will squeeze your finger if you put it in their palm and this is them saying hello. My DD went up to every baby she saw after that and when they would do it she’d excitedly tell me ‘the baby said hello’.
