14MO no pointing and no words

Hi mums, I guess I’m starting to worry a bit as my girl who’s 14months is not pointing, she babbles a lot but no intentional words, I pointed so much for her today that she stuck her arm out and finger with me but it didn’t look purposeful.. she has great eye contact, interactive, plays well with toys, “combs” her hair eats with a spoon and puts on a hat.. Is the pointing thing really that crucial? She would get frustrated and grunts and nods her head when she wants something..

Pointing is not considered late until after 18M old so she still has lots of time left... I wouldn't worry at the moment.

Thank you :-)

My DS is 17months now. He didn’t point with one finger really until about 16 months. He also only had one word at 13 months up until a few weeks ago. He now has about 5 words. He’s always really excelled at motor skills and is very active and curious, I think he just basically didn’t bother with communication skills until now. Pointing is part of communicating and having an interest in what things are called. Some babies are like that, wouldn’t worry until 18 months but wanted to share about my DS as I had same concerns as you before.

Thank you so much for your reply :-) it looks like 18 months is the magical age lol she’s been nodding when she wants something and looking at it and back at me, she’s trying to communicate in her own way lol
