Please help, I'm at my wits end

Hello, I'll try and keep this as short as possible.

So my baby girl is 4 months old and since day one has suffered from what we think is reflux/ colic and it's been horrific.

We have been to the GP 100s of times and they put us on GAVISGON INFANT which I don't think has ever helped massively.

We then got a referral to the paediatrician who we've seen 4 times and checks us over and says "she seems fine to me" they did try us on another medicine but it made her worse.

So feel fobbed off and none the wiser.

She is currently on comport milk, with gavisgon and colief in each feed. Which has helped a bit and gp said it was fine to do that but it seems a lot of stuff added to the formula 😪

I guess I'm after some reassurance that it is just reflux as I'm concerned about some of her symptom's!! I'll list below!

Symptoms...

Sick ALOT

Always wanted to sit up (when I lay her down to feed or change her nappy she's always trying to sit back up)

DARK GREEN POO (paediatric not concerned) 😪 but been like it for weeks

When she's sat up she puts her chin to her chest a lot

Her back is stiff alot. Like if I pick her up she's like a ironing board and if I go and burp her she's impossible to bend. So always rigid back.

Any input would be amazing. As like I said we got medical advice and they've just sorta brushed it off but I'm not convinced.

Thank you so much Smilexx

Is she in pain? Crying/screaming more than you would expect?

I'd also ask about pain. Any inconsolable crying/screaming, possibly with her back arched? Particularly associated with being sick, or with gulping and swallowing (like she was sick in her throat, but swallowed it back down).

If the gaviscon doesn't make much difference, have you tried carobel? You can adjust the amount of carobel you use (within safe limits) to thicken the feed so you can get the consistency right for your baby. What was the other med you tried? DD2 is on omeprazole, which doesn't stop her being sick, but made a huge difference to her pain.

Dark green poo can be normal for some babies, I think, particularly on some formulas (don't know which ones, though).

How's her weight gain? If she's not in pain or struggling to gain weight, then I think reflux is treated mostly as a laundry problem (for which you have my commiserations – DD2 got DH, me, and three different floors in the space of an hour today).

Thank you both for your replies, it's omeprazole they tried her on and it made her so much worse 😞 she hasn't seemed in pain since being on Colief and gav just the symptoms above I mentioned. I tried a day without GAV and oh boy she doing pain cry's today 😪 so will be straight back on that. I guess I was worried that some of her symptoms are more then reflux. Like a muscle tone problem as her backs always rigid and stiff. 😪 or neurological?

Xxx
