Hi, so I just wanted to come on here on the off chance that someone can guide me with some advice. I’m completely stuck.

As close family know Theodore isn’t hitting milestones with his speech and becoming abit of a concern for us. We want to give him the best possible chance in life. He turned 2 in April and still isn’t speaking or even saying anything accept ‘mama’, he makes noises, he responds to words and his physical development is incredible. He just isn’t speaking. I’ve addressed this with his nursery which have claimed they’re not concerned, Locala speech and development therapists have stuck him on a waiting list and said it could be up to a year. I’m not waiting a year. He’s 2, hes surrounding himself with children in nursery and family and still no signs of speech. I’m genuinely concerned and want to seek professional advice. Does anyone know any where that helps with speech development for children? It could something or nothing and he’s just abit behind and that’s okay, we can help him progress so he isn’t behind when in school. Or it could be something different, which also is okay! I jusy want some help. We’re being turned a blind eye by all professionals which is absolutely ridiculous!!

Thanks

Where in the UK are you based? I can recommend a private Speech Therapist in London, she's incredible and makes incredible interactive resources to engage children and get them talking!

Hi there
I have been through the same. My son is now 3 and a half and just been seen by a speech therapist. Although I'm prob now more confused and frustrated than before. My son is a head banger mainly when frustrated or if he doesn't get his own way. The nursery had concerns and although my son now talks in 2/3 words they think he has a processing language disorder. My son had to wait a year to be seen I only got pushed forward after talking to my health visitor 0-19 years. Have you tried talking to them?

Hes quite good physically and behavior wise he is fantastic! Like I don't see any signs of delay in that aspect. I just can't put my finger on it! He just won't speak, I have spoken with the language and speech therapists and they have shoved him on a waiting list. He is quite sensitive to loud noises but hd doesn't cry he puts his hands on his ears to indicate if something is too loud. Does anyone know of any good language and speech development places in West Yorkshire?

I feel the same....I don't agree with what they have said about my son even tho I know they know better. He understands what I'm asking of him he just can't put the words into a sentence. And too young for autism diagnosis. I have had a feeling about my son something just isn't right. Can't help with that as I'm down south try getting an health visitor involved or your GP.
