Thumb sucking in nearly 4 year old - sore, manky thumb

We visited a dear friend today whose dd will be four at the end of March. She has always sucked her thumb which has resulted in it becoming very sore, scaly, red and generally not very healthy.

They out gloves on her which helps a little but has anyone got any tips on how they can deter their dd from thumb sucking ? I said I'd check out Mumsnet for her for some advice.

Anyone ?

I came across this while looking for a solution for dd finger sucking ways. Very tempted to order one but interested if anyone has another tried and tested way . The stop nail biting varnish didn't work for us. www.thumbguard.com.au

Great Thanks ! I found the UK site version which is really helpful. I've emailed it to my friend.
