My DD is 4. She was born with a disability but has thrived at school.
They did however mention to me that her role play is always 'factual'. I.e she won't pretend she's a unicorn or a pirate. She will however enjoy pretending to be a doctor or hairdresser.
I think part of that is her acting out the experiences she's had with hospitals but she's never been one to enjoy fantasy things.
They said we should encourage imaginative play at home but truth be told she just doesn't seem to enjoy this. She prefers dancing and singing. She loves her baby dolls and lego so it's not like she hasn't got an imagation.
Are anyone else's children like this? Her brother's the opposite and loves imaginative play and is a real day dreamer.
