my lo is nearly 6 months old and never wants to stand

bought door bouncer and he did like it today and was mesmerised by feet but noticed he pushed with front/top of foot rather than sole

is that bad for him or shall i let him learn??

bad for his soft toes??

no, they push off from their tippy toes and bounce about, would be odd if they pushed off from soles

i think that's the idea of door bouncers, have the height just at toe level, not flat foot level

bumbly · 10/01/2008 19:11

really - i thoght idea was to strengthen leg muscles so set bouncer to half of foot touches

just sometimes looked odd when he was pushing with inverted foot if you see what i mean...

yes, I guess same thing, they will look odd. it's an odd piece of equipment reeally!

I know what you mean about bouncing on the toes. It does look odd but, as hana says, they use their tippy toes to push off.

My DS just loved his door bouncer! Just before he gave it up (11 months ish), he used to take delight in spinning so that the rubber cord was wound up tight, grinning, and then lifting his feet so that it spun rapidly in the other direction!!! Oh, what fun!

I'm not sure if this is true or not but I've been told to limit their usage to about 10 minutes at a time. Something to do with putting strain on their kness. Sounds sensible and won't hurt to do.

It's fine don't worry. Just be sure you can get the door bouncer off without help and with baby in it, mine both used to fall asleep in theirs, also make sure there is a sheet or soemthing underneath them, mine liked to be sick in it too!
