Is this normal for baby learning to crawl?

My 8.5 month old is just starting to learn to crawl (I think) but in a bit of a strange way.

She uses her arms and one leg to push herself along, belly on the floor, but she doesnt use her right leg at all it just drags along for the ride.

Is this normal for just starting out or could there be a problem with her leg/hip?

Thanks in advance

Almost any sort of weird movement can be normal when they're first learning to get about – coordinating all four limbs is tricky! I'd probably give it a few weeks and see how she comes on, unless you think she's using her right less/differently doing other things besides crawling (sits lopsided, rolls only one direction, uses that hand less, things like that).

My DD started crawling like that too, took her a month or so before she was up on all fours crawling properly!

Thank you for the replies I will monitor over the next few weeks 😊

That’s how Kate Lawler’s little girl crawled and now she’s walking just fine 😊

My DS did tis. He never crawled in the conventional way. He's now almost 4 and ealks, runs, jumps, etc. just fine.

Glad to hear there were others. I feel terrible, I've been panicking so much that she wasn't mobile and now she is I'm obsessing over this! Need to take a chill pill I think.🍷
