Temper and head banging

Hi I just wondered if anyone else has or is experiencing similar problems. Our son is 3 years 3 months. About to start speech therapy but when he doesn't get his own way hits his head onto the floor or wall or hits it with his hand. In the past we have worried about autism but as he got older it doesn't seem to strike us or health visitors as that. But a possible development delay. After Dr Googles help I'm now concerned even more. If anyone has experienced similar please get in contact.

My daughter is 2 and is a nightmare for this head banging on the floor. I think a lot of it is frustration with her having a speech delay. Have an older child with autism so I’m worried this could be the same for her. Ds was extremely hyperactive at this stage. Health visitors are hopeless so don’t rely on them. I was told by memorial hospital and health visitor that child was a parenting problem. Put him in nursery and they couldn’t have kicked off more with the council demanding extra support because they couldn’t cope with ds. Wish I’d never put him in even though speech Improved he ended up scarred for life because he was hit by an asbo child and we had to go to hospital with suspected broken jaw. The child slammed the chair forward whilst he was on it. This was a nursery attached to a school so I avoid those now. It’s taken me several years to get through to Camhs to find out it was autism but at 2 1/2 they were convinced he had adhd. Your son could be frustrated with the speech delay, it brings out a range of behavioural problems. Try flash cards and also miss Rachel on YouTube is good. If you try reading lots and push for speech therapy. Once he can communicate this should help with the head banging but do ask the gp for a referral to Camhs or an eyp who has some training with behavioural problems. Is he in nursery as they really push for that?

Thank you for reply. Sorry you have had a bad time yourself. Saw speech therapy today and now they want observation of him in pre school before they can do report. Flash cards I will try thank you and I agree HV not very helpful!!

Honestly my health visitor hasn’t even show for her appointment today and I’ve just seen she has marked it down for the 10th of may and I sat in all day yesterday waiting for her. My doctors are refusing until the health visitor does anything but I’m just gonna sign off from the health visiting team: I can’t say I’ve found anyone helpful over the years with my son. I find joining other groups and researching the only way. Visual aids are really good too

He needs help with verb words. So looking at some flash cards for that. I have had so many HV finally now see the same one who has pushed for speech therapy.
