21/22 month old not speaking much

Hi all,

I have worried myself by googling development of speech in 22 month olds. There is a lot of variation in what websites say they should be saying by now, ranging from 10 words to 100!!

She is very activity and lately started to get frustrated. She says hello, mumma, dadda, help, yes, no, car and shoe. Says noises that animals say like oink, miaow, woof and neigh. She tries to say cheese but says chee... But that's about all...

Am I worrying for nothing?

She has us and a bigger brother who she adores, but it's not spurred on much speech.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Same boat. Aparantly the lockdown babies are a little behind so I'm just waiting until the 2 year check to see what the situation is like then.

It’s a great sign that she has taken an interest in your other baby

Same boat here. My DD has just turned 23 months and says about the same as yours.

I’m not that worried because she understands everything I say, but same as PP waiting for her 2 year review.
