My 5 (almost 6) year old has started wetting himself. He has been dry and out of nappies for years and has never had a problem. Around the last week or so he keeps wetting himself day and night, and not even telling us about it. Whenever I get him changed into clothes in the morning / night he always has wet pants aswell. When asked about it he says he either doesn’t know that they’re wet or that he just all of a sudden really needs a wee, so he must just go in his pants?

Could this be a UTI or something or is this just him being lazy and not going to the toilet? Just seems so random as he’s been so good with toileting

Any other symptoms? Excessive thirst/ tiredness/ weight loss? Might be an idea to see GP and rule out diabetes x

@VanillaCheesecake no I wouldn’t say I’ve noticed any other symptoms. Is that a symptom of diabetes is it? x

If the other symptoms aren't there then diabetes is unlikely but yes, bed wetting (in kids that are normally dry) is a symptom of undiagnosed diabetes.
