Hi, I'm just looking for a bit of advice. My son is nearly 19months old. I have noticed a couple of traits in him that have started to concern me over time.
- He has no words yet -babbles mama on loop. Used to say dada and boba but has since stopped.
- Doesn't respond to his name a lot of times and can get quite startled when he does (hearing isn't an issue because if he hears something he likes on tv it gets his attention immediately)
- Doesn't try to play with other kids. And when playing seems to organise toys , spin wheels, and like up blocks and continuously potters.
- He is very affectionate to me and does give me eye contact but only on his terms. Can be cold to other family members.
- Tippy toe walking and holds his ears a lot.
- Recently throwing a lot of tantrums and head banging hard to settle for a while.
- Also has no gestures used to wave bye and clap hands has stopped doing these.
Have spoke to my nurse and got no real reassurance just that my concerns were highlighting traits associated with austism was due to have follow up today but was cancelled and not date for rescheduling.
I know I probably sound a bit mad but everything he does now I feel I am analysing it and thinking is that something else. I'm really just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or can give me a bit of advice as I feel I'm getting no where with nurse. Just want to start with intervention ASAP if there is a need.
