ds2 went through this face, not deliberately but just so keen and kind of mauling people he liked the look of.
WE actualy used mittens on him, and then taught him
ahhhh gentle by holding his hand and showing him how to stroke, he also grabbed shanks of hair and swung off it.
Now at 9 mths he is 95% perfect and if you says ahhh he will let go and soften his actions.

cut finger nails regualrly and as short as possible and just keep saying no

robinredbreast · 06/01/2008 19:09

is it ok to say ahhh or no to a 6 month old?

she also does it when we bring her into the bed in the morning which is really annoying

is this normal

I'm not sure you need to be saying 'no'. Keep her nails short and move her hands when she digs in. She's only exploring her world surely?

Completely normal I think. My lo's doing the same.

I file by dd's nails - makes them less sharp. What about mits?

foxythesnowman · 06/01/2008 19:45

Oh yes, you reminded me - snap off a bit of a fine emery board and use that. Remember doing that with DS1.

My breasts are covered in tiny scratches too. Really, don't let it put you off. Hold her hand whilst she feeds.

robinredbreast · 06/01/2008 19:51

yes i could try mitts she even bruises me with her pinches

dh has just said i bet shes gonna be really heavy handed when shes a toddler

why not give her something to hold while you feed her? I used to give my dd a little hankie to scrunch.
