8 month old- no social smiling

Hi everyone,

I'm starting to get very worried about my 8 month old little boy. I always thought he might just be a serious baby in personality but he very very rarely smiles only at my husband or I and it is hard work to make this happen. He did smile alot before but when he turned 5 months it was less and less. He will get excited/smile for peek a boo or certain games but the lack of social smiling has be plagued with anxiety. I know that this can be a main sign of autism in young kids but could it be that he isn't the most expressive baby or am I in denial.
He is cooing and babbling turning when I call his name and interested in toys giving good eye contact although a little behind with his motor development as he has been in physio since birth but getting better day by day.

I guess I just would like someone else's perception or experience if they had a similar little one.
Thanks so much. Smile

If it's just lack of smiling and no other concerns, I wouldn't worry.

Have you spoke to your HV?
