lulumama · 02/01/2008 20:27

DS i cannot remember, DD 2.5... acksherley, she can count to 14 now

LyraSilvertongue · 02/01/2008 20:28

About 18 months iirc.

lulumama · 02/01/2008 20:29

oh no ! my DD is not supertalentedcleverestbaby in the world after all!

LyraSilvertongue · 02/01/2008 20:29

That was ds1. He also knew his alphabet before he was two. Is now very average in school (year 1).

DD could recite numbers 1-10 and a bit more definitely by time she was 20 months - I know as this was when our lift was out of order and we would recite them in blocks of 10 and 20 as we went up and down for 12 weeks!

She was about 2 when she started actually counting.

Wallace · 02/01/2008 20:31

18 months. That was just reciting the numbers, not actually counting objects though

lottymadbird · 02/01/2008 20:32

He's 2 and 4 months. so not supertalented by posts so far but so gorgeous !

told him he was clever, beautiful, gorgeous, funny and kind tonight and he just said "am i mummy?" in a "im curious but not that bothered" sort of way !

DS3 has been able to recite the numbers 1 to 15 since he was about 16 months and can reliably count up to about 6 objects now at 2.2.

Ds1 learnt to tell the time just before his third birthday - his preschool teacher's face was a picture when he first did it!

MeMySonAndI · 02/01/2008 20:49

18m- 20m but then he is trilingual so it took him a bit to get it right... first tryings at 16-18m where:

un, dues, tres, quatre, cinq, six, set, ocho, nine, diz!

TheMNPeacekeepingForce · 02/01/2008 21:00

Ds just did it about a week or 2 ago - he is 2.6 tomorrow.

But I think the average is a bit later.

Bigbad - he could count things up to five before he managed to say 1,2,3,4,5 weirdly....started counting 2 of things first, when he was just under 2 I think.

TheMNPeacekeepingForce · 02/01/2008 21:01

Just to add my friend's son did it ages and ages ago - maybe at 18 months- he is v clever.

Dazy · 02/01/2008 21:29

My DD has been counting 1 to 10 for ages (she's 2). I did think I'd got genius child but then I realised that she's just got so used to me counting crossly at DS when I'm waiting for him to do something (or else get sent to the naughty chair) that she's learnt it by heart. She's also good a shouting "Stop right now" when DS runs away from us!

Poppychick · 02/01/2008 21:30

Yes I think she was about 2 with varying degrees of accuracy!

Almost 2

morningglory · 02/01/2008 21:36

18 months. was in a Sesame Street song he loved.

mummymagic · 02/01/2008 21:42

Well mine is def getting the idea of counting at 20 months... she knows ONE biscuit and she knows TWO biscuitS and maybe three (sometimes). She will count on then with SIX and then usually EIGHT NINE and then SIX again (her fave)... And if it's more than that, she'll just say LOTS! So I think she gets the general gist

but she can't repeat 1,2,3 even as a little song (musicality not her strong point)!

mummymagic · 02/01/2008 21:45

PS lulumama, of COURSE your dd is the supertalentedcleverestbaby in the world!

Just as I suspect mine is too, although I am never competitive, oh no...

coby · 02/01/2008 21:45

DD2 15 months she did it spontaneously too her big sister was counting things one day and she just joined in. I think DD1 was about the same but she was a very early talker unlike DD2 (usually can't get a word in edgeways)
