Use pampers bed mats as you can just chuck them if they get wet.

I would stop putting nappy on him now - wake him and take him to loo before you go to bed at night and restrict the amont he drinks late in the afternoon.

Good Luck.

my dd told me she didnt want to wear nappies at night just after she turned 3 so we stopped them and she did great. We didnt wake her before our bedtime and she rarely wet the bed (apart from one blip when she had a few wet beds and at that point we did start lifting her when we went to bed - after a couple of months we stopped lifting her and she sleeps through without wetting again). We also used the pampers bed mats.

2wks sounds fine to me. Think it took about a week of me getting frustrated by replacing dry washable nappies for DD for me to twig she didn't need them LOL.
No drinks after 6pm, a good wee before bed and a waterproof undersheet should do the trick.

3 dry nights in a row has always been the indicator for us. No nappies after that.
