I don't know if I'm just being overly anxious. But nursery made a comment today about my son. He's 16 months just started nursery last week and they asked if he can walk. Which he can but is flatly refusing to do anything but stay near his keyworker because he's an anxious kid and isn't use to the surroundings yet. She then proceeded to say, one of the girls thought he was younger than he actually is. Now I'm not sure if that's because he's tiny (was born 4lb 9oz and is naturally a small kid) or from a development point of view. It's made my mind run wild 🤦🏻‍♀️

He walks (although didn't start until back end of 14 months) practically runs, kicks a ball, climbs, uses a spoon and fork. Can build a tower block of about 6. Can say about 10 words, but understands loads i.e can you pass me your book or where's the cow etc. he points, waves, claps. Constantly tries to tell me where things are or what he wants using gestures and talking. To me he's doing brilliantly. Am I worrying over nothing?

He sounds absolutely fine and even a bit ahead. Sounds like he's just lacking confidence at nursery which is fine. Encourage them to give him lots of love and cuddles and I bet he'll come out of his shell eventually xx

I agree, he sounds like he's doing really well, and no doubt he'll show more of what he can do once he's more comfortable at nursery.
