8 month old frequent hard blinking & stopped babbling

Wondering if any mums have any knowledge of this?
I've noticed my sons been doing this hard blink thing, I don't know how to really explain it but he'll squeeze his eyes to blink. Noticed it about 3 days ago he's been doing it a few times a day.
Hoping it's just a new development he's discovered but worried it could be something else. He has good eye coordination so I don't know what to think.

He has also stopping babbling this month, he was very vocal. could it be that he's learning other things such as crawling and rolling so that could possibly be taking all of this time.

Thanks In advance guys x

Are his eyes watering when he does it? Could his eyes be stinging for some reason?

It could be developmental like you say. My DS went through a stage of rolling his eyes when he was about 10 months old. He'd roll them really far so only the whites of his eyes showed. You can imagine the stress this caused. He had all the scans and checks offered and all came back clear. He's 3 now and it definitely seems he was simply doing something he realised he could do, just for fun 🙃.

@myaxx hey, did anything come of this? My little one has started doing this but is still
babbling.
