Just recently my 5 year old has started needing to wee constantly before falling asleep at lights out. Before he would drop off to sleep just fine after his story, but since coming back from holiday he will need to go for a wee, and then immediately - ie 1 minute later - says he needs to go again - and then 1 minute later needs to go again, and again etc
He says he’s “too excited” to sleep., but his need to go to the toilet seems genuine rather than a distraction/sleep postponement tactic. But no ideas what’s causing him being “too excited”. He can’t explain why he’s too excited either. He can usually do a couple of drops when he sits back on the toilet. He doesn’t say anything hurts, but gets very upset and frustrated. I’ve tried getting him to relax and take his time when he’s on the toilet, but doesn’t seem to help that much. He just says he’s “too excited” - hence the need to wee.
After about five trips to the toilet, and and frustrated tears and attempted discussion/argument, he usually just sleeps eventually from tiredness.
It’s a problem that suddenly arose out of nowhere. His going to the toilet frequency is totally normal at all other times. Any advice appreciated!
