Highly emotional 8 year Old

I was Just wondering if anyone had any idea or strategies to help us support a highly emotional 8 year old girl.

My daughter constantly cries, not in tantrum like cry an emotional cry. Every morning getting ready, going to bed every night. Around 10 times a day. Teacher in school couldn't believe when I mentioned this to her.

I am at my wits end. She is anaphylacticto peanuts and since her first reaction she has become anxious. She would cry a lot and is afraid of everything. Especially new and enclosed places. She is a quiet kid and does appear to make friends easily. She attends sports, swimming and music lessons and would be pretty able for her age.

I have her down on a list for play therapy but it is a few months before we are getting a slot.

We wouldn't be the shouty type, pretty normal 2.2 family. We would be soft parents never done cried it out or anything.

Please if anyone has any tips please feel free to comment.

There was a thread recently like this after a severe reaction, I think it was in the Allergy Section. I'd see if you can find it as there was some useful tips in there Thanks

Thanks I checked this out. I'm not so sure it's connected with the allergies but it for sure has heightened it.

There are a series of books that are really good “what to do when you….”, with various ideas and exercises to go through with your dc. There is one - what to do when you worry too much - that might be worth looking at.
