Walking on tiptoes?

DS is 14months. He’s been walking since 10.5months so is really confident on his feet. Has been seen by the HV at 12 months and she was delighted with his walking - flat feet, no tiptoes or anything and very stable.

At about 13 months he went through a week or 2 where he wanted to walk backwards 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 the last couple of weeks it’s been running thats been the favourite.

The last couple of days though he’s walking on his tiptoes when he’s walking round the house. Doesn’t seem to have any discomfort or anything that making him do it. He seems to alternate between flat feet and tiptoes. Is this just a phase that kids go through?! FTM and no other kids in the family so I’m clueless. I just know tiptoes was one of the things the HV always watched out for. He’s never been in a walker or a jumperoo etc if that makes any difference.

My 20 month old DD does the same (started walking at 15 months) - I think they’ve realised they can do it, so do it 😂 She was previously walking flat footed so assume it’s some milestone 🤷🏼‍♀️

She does get constipated though and someone told me they walk on tiptoes when they’re constipated but not sure how true that is!

@Vicky1989x Thats actually so strange that you mention that OP 😳 I’d just commented this morning to DH that I thought DS might be a little constipated and to make sure DS drank plenty of water today and to give him some orange as snack because it helps him poo 😳 maybe there is some truth to it 🤷🏻‍♀️

@BDavis That’s really bizarre! Maybe there is some truth to it after all? 😂
