Anyone have a child (male or female) who either loves or hates wearing dresses?

I am doing some research about dresses and what they mean to people. As a little boy, I loved wearing dresses, I was so passionate about them and they made me so happy. It attracted a lot of criticism, especially to my parents who let me express myself.

Has anyone else had this experience? Or the opposite and have a girl who hates wearing dresses? How have you navigated this with both your child and people's opinions?

Hi. I've come to Mumsnet for the first time in a very long time searching for an answer to a similar question. My 5YO adores wearing dresses. He's said clearly and loudly that he likes "girl things". I am not concerned about this behaviour at all, but my DH is worried our DS will be subject to bullying by his peers if he gets seen in Sainsbury's wearing a dress. I believe it's down to us as his parents to educate ourselves on how to support our DS emotionally should he find himself being bullied.
