Teething nightmare (molars) please help

DD (15 months) is cutting her molars and has been grizzly and dribbly for days and unsettled at night (well, she's not a great sleeper anyway but this is something else)
However, the last couple of nights she has screamed and screamed her little heart out. Neighbours must think we're murdering her. She was absolutely inconsolable for hours and calpol, nurofen, teething powders, teethng gel just don't seem to be making any difference. Last night she slept for about 5 hours (broken) the rest of the time she was screaming.

Does this sound familiar for molars? It's awful. I was wondering if it was something else as she's also gasious maximous and had some noxious nappies.

Also, how do I soothe a very unhappy child. She wants to cuddle but doesn't want to cuddle and fights but if I lay her on the bed she climbs back on to my knee so I'm not really sure what she wants and it makes me very frustrated that I can't help. Clues anyone?

Sympathies, but no advice. WE had the night from hell with the third of DS's second (2 yo) molars - first time it's been quite that bad.

Eventually got some relief from a water cup and rice cakes, consumed lying on mummy in our bed.

Live through it is I guess the only way

Medised and ashton's and lots of patience, is your dh/dp taking it in turns with you at night? Teething is just one of the may many phases we have to get through doesn't help with you are the one going through it though! ((((masses of sympathy!)))

my dd (13 months) has been dealing with the 'molar hell' for about 3 weeks now and has been a totally different child. Really clingy, whingy, ill, restless, just generally VERY unhappy.

I really do think that some babies suffer terribly when they cut their molars. Just hang on in there, sorry it's happening to you though - calpol does have an short term effect on our dd thank god.

We are there too Ginger: DS is mediseded up and sleeping as I type. Stick her in the sling during the day? Stick her on DH (DS snoozes happily on DH and won't do with me).

Thanks for your advice. Yes DH is helping but he's ill too so it's taking it's toll.

DS1's teeth were ok with a bit of calpol. DS2 now thats a different matter. We fill the child with calpol and then take turns to sleep with ear plugs in at night. Molars were hell and now we are doing lower eye teeth purgatory.

Hope you didn't suffer too much over Xmas. Have just discovered that DS's two bottom molars AND eye teeth are coming through which could explain a lot!
