Not sitting up independently yet

Hi,
We have nearly 8 month old twins (7 months corrected) who are not sitting up independently yet. Our girl can sit up semi slumped for a few mins before she gets upset. She can lift her head and sit straighter if we direct her attention upward but can’t maintain this position for long. Her brother can technically sit up for a few mins but lately refuses to tolerate sitting at all and throws himself backwards. They can roll both ways and lift up on their arms when on their tummies (although neither has enjoyed tummy time until lately). Both are smiley, make eye contact and are pretty noisy although not babbling yet. They love toys and are very inquisitive and have weaned well so far. I’m slightly twitchy about the not sitting up yet- I suspect they will get there in their own time and that they are otherwise ok but if anyone can reassure me I’d appreciate it! Unfortunately HV non existent- we have been waiting and chasing for a new HV to be allocated since our last one retired since Sept with no luck! Thanks in advance 😊 X

My DD didn’t sit confidently until 9 months (8 months corrected). They sound perfectly fine to me and they still have plenty of time Smile

If it helps I was worried too but GP said they wouldn’t worry unless not sitting by 9 months (but said 10 months in my DD’s case).

Mine didn't sit until 11 months. He is now 8 years old and fine

Perhaps I should add 9.5 months corrected (doubt it makes a difference though)

That doesn't sound particularly late to me. Mine was 10 months plus, before he sat up (he was overdue, so more like 11 months). He did have a mild motor delay, but walked at a fairly average 13/14 months old. Don't worry (or force them to sit up too early), they will do so when they are ready.....

They have now started sitting up a lot more in the last 2 days which is absolutely typical isn’t it 😂 Thank you for the reassurance- I shall try to stop worrying! Their elder sister has ongoing developmental delays hence my increased anxiety. X
