Baby identify body parts

When are they supposed to identify body parts? He's 4 months old and can already touch my nose, mouth and ears when I say them. I thought it was much later on?

My 13 month can't. I'm staggered a 4 month old has that level of receptive language but I guess they are all different. I think it's a 12-18 month milestone.

I'm surprised that they gave the body control to point. My DS has been with the Gifted & Talented kids at school for years. Pretty sure he was bashing his face with his hand at this age.

Sorry but I don't believe for a second that they genuinely understand or have the body control or visual acuity to do this at 4MO. I'd wager there's an element of body language and how you're positioning yourself.

My 20 month old only started doing it recently. No offence but it’s probably a fluke; I doubt a 4 month old has that much control over their movements.

A 4 month old baby can't recognise what you're on about, or point for that matter. If you're sticking your nose in his face and saying nose and he touches it - it doesn't count as identifying a body part. He's just touching what you're flapping in front of him.
