Yet another thread complaining about 3yr olds!

Dd is turning 3 next week and has turned into a Jekyll and Hyde monster! She is very sweet and polite a lot of the time, but then she's developed this awful shouty furious ranting when there's something she doesn't like; for instance just now I told her it was bath time and all hell broke loose!

She just started screaming 'no' over and over and it gets to the point where I end up physically dragging her to wherever I need her to be . I really dislike her when she behaves in this way, and get mad at myself for being so angry . Someone please tell me this is a normal phase and my child is not in fact a minion of the devil?

How about saying something like 'which towel would you like me to dry you with after your bath?' and offering her a couple of towels. that way she thinks she has some control iyswim. You can adapt it to different situations. It might work.

dr christopher green toddler training is an excellent book, i need a six year old version, but it helps you realise its all very normal and inevitable so therefore slightly less personal.

sorry toddler taming - proably says something about my control desires !!!!!!

My ds is three next week...and he also screams at me when I tell him his bath is ready, even though ive forwarned him of the fact for about 5 mins before hand! If he shouts 'no', I just say 'oh so youre going to bed without a bath then, thats fine...' and i get an instant response of..'i want a bath', and he runs upstairs fast as anything!

I do try various casual sounding approaches when I want her to do something but she's a clever little monkey and cottons on v.quickly!

I just want my lovely little girl all of the time instead of this sulky aggressive little madam.
