I’ll try and keep as short as possible, my 14 m/o has a cows milk protein allergy, also suffers with eczema and reflux, although reflux is mostly under control now.
Just after his 1st birthday the dietician reviewed him and commented his weight gain was a little slow (nothing too concerning but ideally would like to see an increase) he was prescribed a milk with more calories to help with the gain and also to include extra vitamins he may not be getting elsewhere.
He was discharged from the dietician as initially took to the new milk well, now further down the line he’s becoming more and more difficult, some days only taking 4oz a day. Whereas he would have had at least 6oz in the evening alone.
I guess I know the answer is to revert back to the old milk but now because of the dieticians comments about him being a little slow to grow I am concerned if he’s back on the old milk he’s going to be back at square one but with him being so fussy around foods/drinks I don’t know what else we can do.
I suppose I’m wondering has anyone else been through anything similar? If so what did you do to solve the issues you were having?
It’s making me quite ill and anxious; every day is a massive struggle to make sure he gets enough food/calcium/vitamins and bottle feeding before bed and in the morning is becoming more and more tense. I hate feeling like this and really am not enjoying motherhood, also feel like I’m not being a very good mum - I just want my son to be happy and grow and feel like I am doing something wrong and failing massively.
I can of course go back to the GP and ask for a new referral to the dietician but I know there is a long wait and I just feel helpless and clueless as to where to go from here.
