What is wrong with my newborn?

My newborn baby is 7 weeks. For the past 3/4 weeks she has been really unsettled in the evening between hours of 5-10, constant crying but after this she sleeps all night often from 11-7/8. Every few days she seems to projectile vomit after a feed which she is really settled after, like it's a relief to her to get it all up.

I've been giving her gripe water after a feed and infacol before as I thought it it was colic due to her being unsettled in the evening.

She only poo's once a day, it's always very runny and there's so much of it.

Any help is appreciated it's my first baby & I'm unsure what is the matter with her.

Is she breast or bottle fed OP?

Sounds like Witching Hour/Purple crying to me (basically one in the same thing).

The pooing sounds normal and all babies vomit occasionally - reflux is far more regular vomiting and the distress isn’t limited to the evening only.

It’s really really awful at the time, but it’ll pass. Try and optimise day time sleep as much as possible - I used to walk miles a day with DS napping in the sling to limit overtiredness.

Colic just means unexplained crying for hours, so gripe water and infafol etc won’t do anything, except help you feel like you’re doing something! Mine did this for WEEKS, finally settled down around four months, then started teething three days later Hmm

All sounds very normal, totally exhausting. We used to take it in turns with her perched on our shoulders and wear headphones – listen to music or a podcast. Swap as often as needed to save sanity.

I think it’s called the witching hour ! I heard about it, had never heard of it and didn’t believe it as I have what seems like pretty chilled out twins ! But then experienced it, still sometimes do! I have twins and my son often vomited or brought up milk with a huge burp especially during last feed. He had reflux too. He just grew out of it.

Both my babies would cry and be so unsettled anywhere around 5 - 9pm when they were little. It could have been irritation from feed, over tired / over stimulated etc. They just grew out of it all. They are nearly 10 months now and still get the over tiredness , unsettled evenings but not like when they were little. It passes don’t worry xx

In answer to your question it seems like there
is nothing at all wrong with your newborn. Hugs 🤗
