I have an 8 month old son. Me and partner are meant to be going out Friday night to watch the Spider-Man although my mother in law who is going to Baby loves with our niece (she's almost 1) she currently has a sickness bug can this be contagious to my son although my mother in law has no symptoms

Yes, he might. I think you're supposed to wait 48 hours after symptoms stop to be considered no longer contagious. Maybe postpone to avoid all 3 of you getting poorly just before Christmas?
