My Dd has just turned 2 years old last week. I have been told she is globally development delayed. She does not walk, she does not say any words at all not even mum/ma ect. She does not self feed, she is not interested in playing with any toys bar 1. She does not point/respond to her name/ communicate in any way really. She is under physio and speech and language therapy and I have just had a letter from the eysens saying they will be coming out to see her in January. I am so worried about her and all I want to do is help her progress but I’m not sure how, the physio have said there’s not much more they can do with her regarding her walking as she’s now done all the steps she should do as she does pull to stand and has started cruising, and it’s just her taking them first steps and gaining confidence. I think I’m just interested in knowing if there is anyone on here with experience like this with their little ones who have possibly gone on to talk/walk at a later stage? Thank you very much for reading

My DS2 didn't walk til well over 2, or talk til 4...global developmental delay.
He did go to special school, had orthopaedic boots, physio , speech therapy etc (and later a dx of ASD)
BUT... he's currently helping himself to a cider from the kitchen, having chewed my ears off about his latest obsession, and has a job in the local supermarket where he is a) brilliant b) really really loved by customers and staff.
I was told, 20 years ago, that as a rough guide, if they can sit ok by 2 there is a decent chance they will walk, so I would hazard a guess your little one will get there :)

Hi there

Sorry to hear of your worries for DD. Like you, I also seek the same reassurance for my DD.

She’s a little younger, 14 months but similar to yours in regards of delays. Please can I ask does your dd give you eye contact, smile and interact with you/ was this delayed? My DD doesn’t (this is the hardest). She’s alert but only likes to look round room.

Best wishes : )
