Spinning obsession- when does it stop?

My little one is now 15 months and has been obsessed with spinning things for about 5 months now.
When does it stop?
It's pushchairs that are becoming difficult to get him away from especially at toddler/baby groups. Or parties.

What spinning obsession? Is it like a schema?

M0m23 · 08/12/2021 07:18

Yeah, he loves spinning car wheels, watching cars drive past outside. Spinning toys that spin, messing with pushchairs.
I have read about schemas, but it seems to have been for like 5 months.
Just wondered when he grows out of it?

I would, personally, let him do it to his hearts content until he decides to stop.

Is there anything else u have noticed? Xxx

He doesn't really respond to his name, but we are really working on that.
The health visitor doesn't seem to be worried about it.

Honestly, health visitors are clueless when it comes to development. I don't trust a word they say. Positive or negative.

I think if you are concerned enough to be asking on here, there's potential concern enough to get a proper review. Maybe talk to your GP?

My son was massively into wheels and spinning things too, he's now 3.5 and still loves vehicles although his interests have diversified a bit too! Based on this alone, I wouldnt worry, the intensity of the interest does wear off a bit eventually

OK. Thank you for the reply.
I hope it does ease as is can kind of be embarrassing when we are out and he wants to grab a pushchair wheels 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hello, my baby is 9 months not responding to name like yours and likes spinning car wheels... I wanna know what happened to your baby?

austismmama · 03/08/2022 08:48

My daughter was obsessed with the wheel spinning until she was about 2ish. To be honest she has autism. Alongside the name thing and then wheel spinning I would keep a look out for anything else that might be of concern. He’s still very young so it could be just something he finds fascinating! She’s not into spinning as much now but does still enjoy playing with cars and trains.
