Maybe speak to your health visitor about your concerns.

Hand flapping at 6 months can be normal.
At 6 months their eye sight is adjusting. My DD was the same. Took her to an ophthalmologist and she reassured me that her focus was just in the process of adjusting and she would be giving eye contact at close range again in a couple of months. Which she did.

The lack of cooing could be a hearing issue, so the HV can refer you for a hearing test. Is your baby being exposed to lots of speech? My DD wasn't big on cooing but then started babbling at 9 or 10 months and at 12 months is on the way to saying her first words.

Lastly, autism is not something to fear. You probably made the same mistake as me and googled the YouTube videos "10 warning signs", "red flags I missed", "when to worry about autism". It's completely setting you up for a fail. My DS is autistic and I can assure you it's not the end of the world xxx

my baby can hear for sure, but he never cooed in this 6 months , eye contact decresing day by day. i love my son whatever he is autism or not. he sleep loads almost 18 hours per day , never cried ,

amankaura · 14/05/2022 13:22

@Mas05 my baby is 10 months now, has very good eye contact from 6/7 months, started babling from 8 months. he rarely babbles. he knows his name from last months. he recognise me, cry if i leave him . but still m worried he is not pointing at things.. but still he has time for pointing .
